Why your car needs a check after daylight-saving time

Fall back. Reset your clocks. Change your smoke alarm batteries. Check your car's lights and wipers?

The Car Care Council recommended now that daylight-saving time is over, consumers should inspect their headlights, taillights and windshield wipers.

“Lights and wipers play a critical role in safe driving, as the chance of an accident increases if you can’t see or be seen,” said Rich White, executive director, Car Care Council. “From the driver’s seat you may not notice a light that isn’t working, so inspect all of your car’s lights and replace those that are out. Also, inspect and replace wiper blades so you can see clearly when wet weather hits.”

The Memphis Area Transit Authority announces the development of a short range transit plan. Meetings around the greater Memphis area are scheduled to gain feedback on community needs. A development team is putting together several transit scenarios and wants your input. 

These four meetings will be held on November 7, 8, 9, and 10th, and are open to all.

Bartlett gets new 4-way stop

Bartlett gets new 4-way stop

Bartlett leaders say the roads will be a bit safer thanks to a new four-way stop.

The city will install the signs next Tuesday morning at the intersection of “Memphis Arlington and Altruria Road and into the drive at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market,” officials said.

Megabus expanding Memphis service

The Megabus, known for its low fares, is adding routes to and from Memphis. Starting November 16, you can ride to Atlanta and Birmingham daily from MATA's North End Terminal on North Second Street. Megabus fares always start at one dollar and increase as the travel date gets closer.

Sewer work closes Stage Rd.

Bartlett drivers will have a minor headache if they’re traveling on Stage tomorrow.

Here’s some information from the city:

On Tuesday, October 4, beginning at 6 p.m. West Bound traffic on Stage Road will be reduced to one lane for sewer repair beginning at Bartlett City Hall (6400 Stage) and extending westward to Elmore Park. Signage and taper lanes will extend from Northstar to Kirby Whitten.
