MLGW is giving back to the community for the 24th consecutive year as it sponsors the Special Olympics Sportsfest at Rhodes College this weekend.

Dozens of MLGW employee volunteers will assist with the Special Olympics festivities including volleyball and power lifting.

The strength, endurance and skills demonstrated by children with disabilities in the community will be showcased in a variety of events.

“MLGW salutes the children who are participating in this weekend’s Special Olympics Sportsfest,” said MLGW President and CEO Jerry Collins Jr. “These athletes are an inspiration to us all, and MLGW is proud to be a sponsor of this event.”

The Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 3.7 million athletes in more than 170 countries.

Special Olympics competitions are held every day, all over the world, including local, national and regional competitions, adding up to about 50,000 events a year.

This event will be held April 21 at 9:30 at the Rhodes College campus. It is open to the public.
