A dog that was saved from the freezing cold and tied to a tree in the woods is doing very well.

The handsome pup, named Jasper by Humane Society staff had a gash in his neck caused by an embedded collar.

The wound was a little worse than they thought, and so he will not be available for adoption for a couple of weeks.

Pet of the Week: Meet Philly

Philly is an eight-year-old cat and Action News 5's Pet of the Week.

As you can see in the video above, Philly loves to roll, play and be petted.

The Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County has had her for a little more than a year.

She is great with other cats.

Oncologist Dr. Kathy Mitchener with the Angelcare Cancer Clinic for Animals is now holding new clinical trials for dogs with mast cell tumors at her Bartlett office at 6923 Stage Road.

Some of the requirements include participants that have never undergone any previous chemotherapy treatments and have a life expectancy of greater than two months.
