Raggedy Ann exhibit coming to Bartlett

"Raggedy Ann and Andy's Merriest Christmas" will be on display at the Bartlett Museum, 2969 Court Street, November 20, presented by the Bartlett Historical Society.

The event is part of the society's Christmas Open House, that runs from 2p.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit will include dolls from different eras, related Christmas ornaments and related books.

There is no admission fee for this holiday event.

Bellevue's Singing Christmas Tree is Back

Bellevue Baptist Church presents it's 2011 Singing Christmas Tree: Destination Christmas.

In a hectic train station full of holiday travelers rushing to meet loved ones, three strangers—and three stories—are on a collision course that will change their lives forever.

Their journey is about to become their "Destination: Christmas"!

The Singing Christmas Tree is a Memphis tradition like no other, and Bellevue Baptist Church proudly presents "Destination: Christmas." This beloved annual production weaves a modern-day story with the timeless truth of Jesus' birth.

For the Singing Christmas Tree's 36th year, "Destination: Christmas" will feature original story and music; the signature 44-foot Christmas tree; over 100,000 lights; a cast, choir, and orchestra of over 400; and a performance worthy of Broadway itself. This year's production creates an uplifting story and vividly brings to life the miracle of Christ's birth.

Kids night in offers parents a night out

Looking for a date night this weekend, but having trouble finding a baby sitter? Then Kids Night In at Hope Presbyterian Church could be for you. Kids Night In will take place take place this Friday, November 4th from 5:30 to 9:30 and is a program developed to let parents drop off their children, ages 1 to 5th grade, for a fun night of crafts, movies, gym time and more!

The cost is $25 for the first child and $10 for each additional child. Payments should be made at the door during drop off. Snacks and juice will also be provided. All proceeds from Kids Night In benefit future Global Outreach Mission trips.

Halloween safety tips for big and little kids

It looks like the Monday evening weather will cooperate for trick-or-treaters young and old.

We'll have just a few clouds with temperatures mostly in the mid and upper 50's after dinner time.

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention have compiled a comprehensive list of safety tips here, aimed at keeping everyone safe during the door-to-door frivolity. Whether you're heading out in costume or will be handing out treats at the front door, the list has something for everyone.

Faith Family Fall Festival

Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett is holding its Family Fall Festival at its Cordova property called The Grove at Red Oak Lake.

The festival is November 6, and runs from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. with free admission.

There will be bounce houses, boats, food , a hayride, family games, music and pastoral devotion.

Trunk or Treat

The Bartlett Recreation Center is gearing up for its 8th annual Trunk or Treat and needs your help to make this year a success.

BRC facility manager Tawny Walker said, "the event has grown over the past eight years and this year we are asking for candy donations so we can have enough for the 200-plus kids that come by."

There will be several activities for children ages 12 and younger, such as: face painting, a moon bounce, DJ, candy and games.
