The world's largest swimming lesson | Parents & kids

Even though the official start of summer is still a few days away, the swimming season has already arrived.

It's important that children and adults know how to swim and the safety rules to observe while at the pool.

Make A Splash Mid-South is committed to making that possible for everyone.

On Tuesday, June 14, thousands of children around the globe will participate in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson. The event is intended to educate summer swimmers in an attempt to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended injury related death of children ages 1 to 14.

About 100 families from Memphis will be at Bickford Swimming Pool to participate in this world wide event. Last year's inaugural event had some 4,000 participants across 34 states, 5 countries and 3 continents. This year's event promises to be even bigger.

If you'd like your child to participate there's still time. Just show up at the Bickford Swimming Pool located at 235 Henry at 9 a.m. to register. The event will kick off at 9:45 and the World's Largest Swimming Lesson world record attempt will begin at 10 a.m.

It's a great way to make pool safety fun and it's a great family event. So make a splash this summer by taking part in this world record attempt.
