Lakeland Referendum Vote to be Held May 10th | Parents & kids

Any Lakeland resident who voted on Super Tuesday, should have received a pamphlet informing them of a vote on a referendum on May 10th to decide if Lakeland residents want to establish a Lakeland School System. The Lakeland Board of Commissioners are currently in the process of passing the resolution to hold the election. The actual wording to appear on the ballot is below.
Shall the City of Lakeland create a municipal school district that shall meet the standards of adequacy established by applicable State law and regulations, which standards include raising and spending each year the required amount of local fund for the operation of the municipal school district that, for calculation purposes only, would at least be equal to the amount that would be raised through a fifteen cents ($.15) tax levy on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) of taxable property for each year all such taxes were collected? Voters will then indicate on the ballot a YES or NO.
