Families Matter of Memphis is hosting the Cooking Clergy Taste Fest 2012 on June 17 at 3 p.m. at the Bartlett Station Municipal Complex. Local Pastors will be serving their favorite dishes, paintings by local artist, Lonnie Wilson, will be on display and a silent auction will be held. Families Matter will also be recognizing the “Dad of the Year” through its Dynamic Dads program.

The Cooking Clergy 2012 Taste Fest will be held on Father’s Day 2012 as a day of celebration and to bring families in the local community together.

“Fathers are called to be provider and leaders of their families,” said Pastor Walter Green of Friendship Baptist Church, advisory board member and chair of the Families Matter 2013 walk/run committee.

Green also encourages men to participate in the Families Matter Fatherhood Program where fathers are educated, encouraged, and supported in being the providers and leaders they are intended to be.

Families Matter is an organization of Christ Community Health Services that provides education, support and promotion for the health and growth of marriages and families. Programs offered include Dynamic Dads, Principles of Manhood, Before You Tie the Knot, Connections, and Marriage Mentoring. Currently the programs are offered in hospitals, Memphis housing complexes, and at-risk neighborhoods and in the City School System.

Entrance to the event can be gained by a $20 donation for adults; $10 for kids 4 through 12 and kids 3 and younger get in free.
