The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says it busted a thief while he was waiting on his new stove to be delivered today.
Investigators say Barry Sullivan stole about $4,000 in cash and more than $1,000 in Best Buy gift cards from a home recently. Deputies say he used the stolen cash and cards to buy a new stove at the chain's Wolfchase location.
However, before the stove was delivered to Sullivan's home in the 4900 block of Rabbit Chase Lane, deputies had already identified him as a suspect and went to his as he waited for the appliance.
Deputies say they found receipts for the stove and the stolen gift cards inside Sullivan’s wallet.
Sullivan has been charged with two counts of theft.
