34,085 lbs of food, $64,223 donated during Action News 5 Holiday Food Drive | Community Spirit

A big thanks to the Mid-South for their generosity as 34,085 pounds of food and $64,223 was donated to the Mid-South Food Bank during the Action News 5 Holiday Food Drive.

Starting before the sun came up Wednesday morning, Action News 5 had crews across the Mid-South collecting donations during the annual Holiday Food Drive that hit six different locations this year.

As it is every year, it was the charitable community of the Mid-South that makes the drive benefiting the Mid-South Food Bank so successful.

“So this is - this time of year - particularly this time of year is just a wonderful time to highlight that generosity, and to let those people who are in need know that they are here to help and do what we can,” said Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell at the Midtown location Wednesday.

Last year, 32,616 pounds of food and $54,000 was donated.
