New store to sell tools and beer | Business
For some people it could be a dream come true – a place where you can buy tools and beer all in one place.
Senior buyer, Jean McGhee, of Hollywood Feed – the successful and local pet supply store with 16 open across the Mid-South - is the brainchild behind the new store on the block called We Sell Tools.
“We Sell Tools is a new concept tool store for the do-it-yourselfer. We will be selling all kinds of tools used for automotive, woodworking, landscaping cleanup, welding, electrical, plumbing, roofing and more,” she said.
“We have applied for a beer permit and plan to sell domestic beer, along with energy drinks and sodas, so that we can be a one-stop shop for our customers who want to pick up a six pack on the way home and also get everything they need to get started on a household project.”
McGhee will be the company president of We Sell Tools - her family has been in the welding and tool-related business for many years.
She saw the need for a new breed of tool stores in Memphis.
“We will have a unique environment in our store. In addition to selling beer on site, we will have ESPN on four TVs around the store so that our customers can come in and shop without having to miss out on keeping up with their favorite team’s game,” McGhee said.
Currently, a We Sell Tools store will be opened on the corner of Summer and Whitten in Bartlett with 12 employees and 5,700 square feet of space– if business goes well, McGhee said more stores will be opened.
“One thing that was important to us was to hire professionals to give professional advice. That’s why we’ve hired former plumbers, electricians and auto mechanics to offer advice and assistance to our customers,” she said.
With her past experience in retail at Hollywood Feed and her family history – McGhee feels prepared for her exciting venture.
