New plan helps get child support payments on track

New plan helps get child support payments on track

Child support's serious business and there can be stiff consequences for not paying up.

If you get behind, you can lose your driver's license. The state can also revoke professional licenses for failing to pay child support. Finally, a judge can even issue an arrest warrant for you and throw you in jail.

But a new program in Shelby County can help you pay up while keeping you from getting punished.

It's called "Project Drive."

New way to fight liver cancer

New way to fight liver cancer

Submitted by Mary Alice Taylor/Methodist Hospital

Methodist University Hospital announces it is now the only hospital in Tennessee to offer inoperable liver cancer patients a new innovative treatment to help them fight their disease. The minimally invasive procedure uses radioactive microspheres to deliver radiation straight to the tumor inside the liver.

“TheraSphere® using radioactive isotope Y-90 microspheres gives doctors the ability to precisely target the tumor inside the liver, sparing healthy tissue and greatly reducing negative side effects,” explained David Fang, M.D., an interventional radiologist with Methodist University Hospital. “This new protocol makes Methodist the premier center in Tennessee and one of only a handful of centers in the Southeast to offer a full spectrum of interventional oncology cancer care.”
